"Homma Kancho came to our dojo, New Delhi Aikido in New Delhi, to teach a three day seminar this past March. This was Homma Kancho’s second visit with us in New Delhi and everyone was very happy to see him again. My dojo is in a nice part of the city, but we still have a small number of students. One unique aspect of our dojo is that we have many foreign students practicing here which makes for a very colorful international exchange of ideas and technique with world level communication between the foreign and native attending students.

Before visiting us in New Delhi, Homma Kancho had visited Mongolia, the Philippines, Nepal and Bangladesh so were expected him to be fairly tired! We were surprised to find that Homma Kancho was not tired in the least and was quite powerful while he was teaching for the three days here. My student and assistant, Yulia Pal attended to Homma Kancho’s arrangements and did a very nice job of making sure that he was comfortable for this last leg of his tour through Asia."

During May-June 2006 seven members of our dojo visited Tokyo for training in the Hombu Dojo (Aikido World Headquarters). The pictures have been contributed by Yulia Pal, Urvashi Khemka and Jose Pizzaro.

We are infinitely grateful for the opportunity to learn from Shihan Terry Ezra, founder and chief instructor of Komyokan Aikido, UK. Ezra Sensei visited Delhi during 5 to 10 December to conduct an 18-hour seminar, free of cost, at the New Delhi Aikido Dojo.

Shihan Terry Ezra is a well-known and respected Aikido master who has studied and taught this peaceful martial art around the world for more than 40 years. Besides his depth of inner knowledge of Aikido, we were drawn to his terrific sense of humor, his kind spirit, and his wisdom.

"Take training seriously, not yourself", was one of Ezra Sensei messages.

The International Aikido Seminar conducted by Gaku Homma Sensei on 4-5 February 2006 in New Delhi

The Aikido Foundation of India and New Delhi Dojo hosted an International Aikido Seminar and at the Sanskriti School, on 4th and 5th February, 2006. This seminar was conducted by Shihan Gaku Homma, the Founder and Chief Instructor of Nippon Kan, Denver, Colorado, USA. This was a unique opportunity to witness one of the foremost exponents of this martial art form imparting training to Aikido students in India.

Shihan Gaku Homma Sensei is a founder of the Aikido Humanitarian Active Network (AHAN) that is involved in humanitarian activities and assists in developing projects globally that affect individual communities around the world. This seminar was conducted within the framework of AHAN charitable activities.
